Professor Durga D. Poudel, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Louisiana, USA, was the first President of Asta-Ja RDC, April, 2014-March, 2018. Professor Poudel is a Soil and Environmental Scientist, the Founder of the Asta-Ja Framework, Founding Member Asta-Ja Abhiyan Nepal, International Coordinator Asta-Ja ICC, Founding President Asta-Ja RDC and the Founding President of Asta-Ja USA. He is currently living in USA.
Professor Basu D. Sharma, University of New Brunswick, Canada, is a Business Administration expert and the Founding member of Asta-Ja Abhiyan Nepal. Professor Sharma is the Founding editor of the Journal of Comparative International Management. He sits on the editorial boards of: the Journal of Management, the International Journal of Management Literature, Labour and Management in Development, Research and Practice in Human Resource Management, and Workplace Review. Professor Sharma lives in Canada.
Dr. Krishna Belbase is an international development and evaluation expert with 25 years (1992-2017) of progressively responsible positions with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in various roles involving program management, policy advocacy and evaluation covering both development and humanitarian fields. Dr. Belbase has a solid academic background with a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from Cornell University, USA. He has travelled to more than 60 countries and presented in many international conferences. His areas of specialization include food and nutrition security, development planning and social protection.
Dr. Arjun Aryal, the Founding General Secretary of Asta-Ja USA is a Geophysicist. Dr. Aryal received his PhD in Geophysics from the University of Hawaii in Hawaii, USA.. He received his MPhil degree in GIS and Remote Sensing from Cambridge University, England and MS degree in Geology from Purdue University, Indiana, USA. Dr. Aryal's expertise include understanding geologic processes such as landslides and earthquake cycles using data from GPS, radar satellites and laser scanners. He is also involved heavily in many education related charitable non-profit activities. Dr. Aryal is currently lives in Hawaii, USA.
Dr. Purusotam (Puru) L Shrestha is Mines and Mineral Geologist. Dr. Shrestha had an opportunity to work in developing a School of Mines and supporting the state-owned gold, manganese and bauxite operations in Ghana. Dr. Shrestha joined BHP Utah International in 1989 as a R&D Manager for Mineral Development in Sunnyvale, California. In 2000, Dr. Puru Shrestha was transferred to Australia to take a new challenge as a Global Technology Manager to oversee the technology development for the world-class iron, coal, copper, nickel operations. Dr. Puru Shrestha currently lives in Tucson, Arizona, USA.
Mr. Bishnu Raj Gautam, Hydrogeologist, received his M. Sc. degree in Geology from the St. Petersburg State Mining Institute, Russia. He received another M. Sc. degree in Hydrogeolgy from the University of Tubingen Germany. He was born in Arghakhanchi, and raised in Palpa and Bhairahawa, Nepal. He currently lives in Brisbane, Australia.
Dr. Deben Sapcota, Poultry Scientist, is the Councilor of the World's Poultry Science Foundation, Executive Member of Indian Poultry Science Association, Member of Indian Veterinary Association, Member of Poultry Punch (New Delhi), Life Member of Indian Poultry Science Association, Animal Nutrition Society of India, and Indian Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Sapcota received his MVSc from Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University, Hyderbad, India, and his Ph.D. degree from Indian Veterinary Research Institute. He was born and raised in Sonitpur, Assam, India, and he currently lives in Khanapara, Guwahati, India.
Ms. Sabina Khatri, a hydro-geologist, is currently working as an officer (Technical) in Nepal. She was born and raised in Kathmandu. She holds a Master Degree in Tropical Hydrogeology and Environment Engineering from Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany. She also has a M.Sc. degree in Geology from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. Her area of expertise includes water resources, integrated water resources management including mainly groundwater, tubewells (shallow & deep), traditional water-system restoration, waste-water, wastewater treatment, solid waste management. She currently lives in Nepal.
Dr. Kalpana Khanal is an Assistant Professor of Economics and Finance at Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts, USA. Dr. Khanal is a member of the Association for Evolutionary Economics, Association for Institutional Thought, International Association of Feministic Economics, Omicron Delta Epsilon (International Honor Society in Economics), Western Social Science Association and Allied Social Science Association, Association of Nepalese Agricultural Professionals of Americas, and founding executive member of Asta-Ja USA. Dr. Khanal currently lives in Massachusetts, USA.
Dr. Romy Das Karna completed her Master of Agriculture Systems at the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, and Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics at Justus Liebig University of Giessen in Germany. Her research interests include agriculture, natural resource and environmental economics, as well as food safety and food policy. Upon completion of her doctoral degree, she volunteered as a country partner of Nepal at the International Farm Comparison Network in Germany. Later, she worked as a consultant at the Rodale Institute, a pioneer organization in farming and research of organic agriculture in the U.S. Dr. Karna is currently working full time at the FoodChainID, an industry leader in food safety and Non-GMO certification business in North America .She currently lives in North Carolina, USA.
Dr. Prasamsa Singh received her Ph.D. and M.Sc. degrees in Environmental Science from Nagoya University, Nagoya, Japan, and her first M.Sc. degree on Hydrology and Meteorology from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal. Dr. Singh's Ph.D. dissertation title was "Characteristics of diurnal variation in summer precipitation over the central Tibetan Plateau, central India, and southern Himalayan foothills." Dr. Singh's research interest include understanding temporal variability of precipitation over south Asian monsoon region, and investigating changes in the characteristics of extreme rainfall events. Dr. Singh was a Postdoctoral Fellow at International Pacific Research Center, SOEST, University of Hawaii, USA, and at Hydrospheric Atmospheric Research Center, Nagoya University, Nagoya, Japan. She currently lives in Canada.
Dr. Shiva Gautam, Biostatistician, is heavily involved in various organizations and initiatives dedicated to Nepal's socio-economic development including America Nepal Medical Foundation (ANMF), International Nepali Literary Society (INLS), and several other organizations that are based in US, Canada and Nepal. Through different activities, Dr. Gautam has been continuously engaged on important issues related to overall improvement of public health and education in Nepal. Dr. Gautam earned his Ph.D. and Master's degrees in Statistics from the University of Texas, Richardson, Texas, USA, and his Bacelor degree in Statistics from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal. He was born in Yangpang VDC, Bhojpur, and raised in Biratnagar, Morang, Nepal. Dr. Gautam currently lives in Florida, USA.
Dr. Gokarna Gharti-Chhetri, Molecular Biologist, received his M. Sc. and Ph. D. degrees in Plant Biotechnology from Vrije Universitet Brussels, Belgium. Dr. Gharti-Chhetri received his first M.Sc. degree in Agronomy & Management from the University of Philippines at Los Banos, Philippines. He received his .B. Sc. Agriculture degree from Udaipur, India. Dr. Gharti-Chhetri's wide range of expertise include biofuel production, molecular biology techniques, Scanning Electron Microscopy, wheat breeding, grain storage and post-harvest technology. Dr. Gharti-Chhetri's cutting-edge research include phytoremediation of arsenic in South Asian countries, the development of a plant-made subunit vaccine against genital herpes infection for Egypt, and citrus viruses in USA. He currently lives in Florida, USA.
Dr. Rajendra B. Shrestha, Agricultural and Resource Economist/Development Economist/Natural Resources and Environmental Management Specialist, received his Ph.D. (Honors) degree in Agricultural and Resources Economics from the University of Hawaii, USA, first Master’s degree in Statistics from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal, and the second Master’s degree in Agricultural and Resources Economics from the Oregon State University, USA. Dr. Shrestha has over 35 years of International Development working experience with The World Bank, Asian Development Bank, UNDP and other International Agencies (bilateral and multi-lateral) including USAID, DIFID, DANIDA, WFP, FINIDA, Win Rock Int., and WWF. Dr. Shrestha was born and raised in Kathmandu, Nepal, where he currently resides.
Dr. Bijaya B. Karki, Computer Scientist, received his doctorate from the University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, UK. Dr. Karki was born and raised in Kathmandu, Nepal. He is affiliated with Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He currently lives in Louisiana, USA. .
Mr. Sudeep Bhusan Aryal, Information Technologist, received his IT degree in Finland. Mr. Aryal has served NRNA as a Secretary and Treasurer. Mr. Aryal was born and raised in Dhading district of Nepal, and he currently lives in Finland.
Ms Neela Joshi, a Computer Scientist, received her M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Louisiana, USA. Ms. Joshi is a lead Drupal Developer at Baker Huges and GE Company, Houston, Texas. She has more than 12 years of experience in software development; she created complex back-end management systems including content management, e-commerce, customer relations and communication interfaces. She was born in Bajhang district of Nepal, and raised in Kathmandu, Nepal. She currently lives in Houston, Texas, USA.
Mr. Raghabendra Shah
received his B.E. degree in Electrical Engineering from IOE Pulchowk Campus, Tribhuwan University, Kathmandu, Nepal. After his BE degree, he worked for the Maintenance and Development of ERP system of Ghorahi Cement Industry in Kathmandu Nepal. Mr. Purushottam Sigdel is a PhD candidate in Computer Science at University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Louisiana, USA. Mr. Sigdel received his 1st M.Sc. degree in Communication and Information from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, and his 2nd M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Louisiana, USA. He was born and raised in Bardiya, Nepal, and he currently lives in Louisiana, USA.
Mr. Biplov Bhandari, Geomatics Engineer (Remote Sensing and GIS), received his BE degree from Kathmandu University. Mr. Bhandari is currently working at the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand. His major responsibility includes developing Location-Based Early Warning System Software. He likes to work on ITs such as 3D and UAV. He was born and raised in Gulmi Nepal, and he currently lives in Bangkok, Thailand.
Mr. Madhav Adhikari, Founding Member and current Executive Board Member of Asta-Ja RDC, Nepal, is an expert in Urban and Regional Planning and GIS/RS. Mr. Adhikari received his Masters degree in Geography from TU, Nepal and M Sc degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Ben-Gurion University, Negev, Israel. Mr. Adhikari was born and raised in Dang district and he currently lives in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Mr. Rudra Gnawali, a Ph. D. student in Electrical and Optical Engineering at University of Dayton, Ohio USA. Mr. Gnawali received his M. Sc.Physics degree from Banaras Hindu University(BHU), India, and another M.Sc. degree in Material Science from University of Memphis, USA. He was born in Bamgha VDC Gulmi, and currently lives in Dayton, Ohio, USA.
Dr. Keshav Bhattarai, Professor of Geography at the School of Geoscience, Physics, and Safety Sciences, University of Central Missouri, USA, received his Ph. D. degree from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, USA. He earned his B. Sc. and BA degrees from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal. He also earned Associate of Indian Forest College post-graduate Diploma from Indian Forest College, Dehradun, India and M.Sc. in Natural Resource Management from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, U.K. In addition, Dr. Bhattarai also earned a Diploma in Aeronautical Radio Engineering. He was born and raised in Arghakhanachi district of Nepal, and he currently lives in Missouri, USA.
Dr. Ambika P. Adhikari, DDes., AICP, has over 25 years of professional and academic experience in urban and environmental planning and project management internationally, including in Nepal, India, USA, Canada, Mexico and the Pacific. In Nepal, he was a member of the Government of Nepal's National Water and Energy Commission – the highest policy making body in this sector. Dr. Adhikari received Doctorate in Urban Planning from Harvard University, obtained post graduate fellowship from MIT and M. Arch. from University of Hawaii. He was born and raised in Bhojpur, Nepal, and he currently lives in Arizona, USA.
Dr. Deb P Jaisi is an Environmental (Soil) Chemist at the University of Delaware, USA. Dr. Jaisi educational route traces from Tribhuvan University to Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok (Thailand), Miami University, Ohio, and finally Yale University, Connecticut. His research thrust lies in the environmental fate of several inorganic and organophosphorus compounds. Dr. Jaisi's trait originates from Parbat where he was born and raised and currently lives in Wilmington, Delaware, USA.
Dr. Ganesh Pandey, an Engineer, received his B.E. honors in Civil Engineering from IIT Roorkee, India, M. He was born and raised in Palpa district of Nepal, and he currently lives in Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA.
Dr. Raju Adhikari, a Chemist and Polymer Scientist, received his Ph.D. degree in Organic Chemistry from University of Delhi, India. His current research include the polymer for nutrient coating and film for agriculture application, RAFT polymer for cosmetic applications, fluorescent and phosphorescent small molecule, monomer and polymer for OLED application, biostable polyurethane for biomedical devices and biodegradable polymer for tissue engineering and food application. Dr. Niroj Aryal specializes in water quality and ecological engineering. He is a dual major Ph. D. graduate in Biosystems Engineering and Environmental Engineering from Michigan State University, USA. He also owns Master's degree in Biosystems Engineering from Michigan State University, post graduate diploma in Environment Education and Sustainable Development from Kathmandu University and undergraduate degree in Agricultural Engineering from Tribhuvan University. Dr. Satish Bastola, Water Resource Engineer, received his Ph.D. degree from University of Yamanashi, Kofu, Japan, and his M.Sc. and BE degrees from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal. Dr. Bastola's expertise include understanding terrestrial water cycle of medium to large river basins, and effect of climate and global change on water resources and hydrologic regimes, including floods and droughts. Dr. Rudra Aryal, Physicist/Natural Scientist/Environmental Scientist, received his Ph.D. degree in Physics from University of Miami, Florida, USA. Dr. Aryal received his M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in Physics from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal. Dr. Aryal's research focuses on air pollution especially on the interaction of solar radiation with surface level and column integrated atmospheric pollutant (aerosol) particles. Dr. Aryal was born and raised at Rampur in Palpa district of. Nepal. He currently lives in Rindge, New Hampshire, USA.
Dr. Sushil Adhikari, an expert in Biological Engineering, is an Alumni Professor in the Biosystems Engineering Department at Auburn University, Alabama, USA. He is also the Director for the Center for Bioenergy and Bioproducts at Auburn University. His research interest include Spectroscopy and Catalysis, Nanomaterials in Catalysis, and Nucleophile Catalysis. Dr. Jiwnath Ghimire, an urban planner, specializes in land use planning, transportation planning, geographic information systems, and disaster management. Dr. Manish Neupane, Cancer Biologist, received his Veterinary Medicine degree from Tribhuwan University, Nepal, and got his PhD in Comparative Medicine and Integrative Biology from Michigan State University, U.S.A. He did his post-doctoral study in Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at Harvard Medical School, Boston, U.S.A. Currently, he has been working as an Assistant Professor in Department of Medical Oncology at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, U.S.A. Dr. Neupane has been extensively trained in understanding the biological basis of initiation and progression of cancers. He has been investigating various aspects of carcinogenesis at molecular, cellular and whole organism level using cutting edge technologies, and aims to translate his findings into clinics for the benefit of cancer patients. He was born and raised in Baratnagar, Nepal, and he currently lives in New Jersey, U.S.A.
Ms. Jigyasa Sharma is a Doctor of Science candidate in the Department of Global Health and Population, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Harvard University, MA, USA. As a part of her doctoral training, she is keen on building an expertise in combined use of quantitative (epidemiological and econometric) and qualitative methods in global health research. Jigyasa also worked with the Department of Reproductive Health and Research at the World Health Organization Headquarters in Geneva on projects aimed at improving sexual and reproductive health of women globally. Jigyasa received her Bachelor degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delihi, India, an MSc. in Public Health (Epidemiology and Biostatistics) from McGill University, Canada, and A.B. in Biological Sciences and Politics from Mount Holyoke College. Dr. Lal Baboo Gupta, Dental Surgeon, is a retired Dental Surgeon from the Government of Nepal. Dr. Gupta received his Bachelor of Dentistry (BDS) degree from Demont Morency College of Dentistry in Lahore, Pakistan. Dr. Gupta joined the Government of Nepal in 1980 and retired in 2010. He worked in different zonal hospitals including Jhapa, Janakpur, Biratnagar, Birgunj and in Bir Hospital in Nepal. Dr. Gupta currently runs his Birta Dental Clinic in Birgunj, Nepal. He was born and raised in Shabhu Nath Municipality, Kachandaha-1, Saptari, Nepal.
Dr. Achyut Sharma, a microbiologist, is the pioneer in founding Nepal’s educational program on microbiology. Dr. Sharma received his Ph. D degree in Microbiolog from Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh,UK, 2nd M.S. in Microbiology from, Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, UK, and his first M.Sc degree in Botany from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal. Dr. Sharma has worked in many organizations at various capacities including Enzcycle Lab, LLC, Indiana; EMSL Analytical, Inc., Indianapolis, IN; EMSL Analytical, Inc., Milpitas, CA, USA; Nepal Medical College, Nepal; Institute of Medicine ,Teaching Hospital, Kathmandu Nepal; and Department of Microbiology, Tribhuvan University, Nepal.
He currently lives in Chicago, USA.

He is the Founding Director of Children Support Fellowship Nepal.
